“Empowered women empower women.”
“A woman is like a teabag—you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water.” – Eleanor Roosevelt. And the flavor will only get stronger if you put more than one tea bag, right? We all knew that women do better when backed up by other women and finally there is a research that proves it.
A couple of years ago there was a study published in Harvard Business Review that strongly points to the fact that women surrounded by other female friends have bigger chances of getting positions with higher pay and a more successful carrier.
We can all agree that women face greater challenges than man, especially at work and having a female tribe is very important because they all share the same experience and can help each other overcome the many challenges. Having someone going to the same thing as you and asking for an advice is really helpfully. You can always depend on your ‘sisters from another mother’ when struggling.
Women and men have different needs so having a network that doesn’t resemble those of successful men is really important. Many women in leadership positions that don’t have a support system created with other women don’t go as far as women that do.
It’s not just the workplace. Women heal better when she is with friends. Another older study pointed out that women with a strong support tribe have better survival rates when faced with serious health challenges.
At the end of the day, never underestimate the power of simple text message with your girlfriends.
